Concentrated Solar Thermal (CST)

Overview of Concentrated Solar Power Solutions

When sun sets or gets blocked by clouds, there is a reduction or curtailed energy production in the usage of solar energy. This is one of the major problem facing the widespread use of solar energy. This is where the thermal energy storage comes into the picture. Concentrated solar power provides a workable solution to this problem.

What is Concentrating Solar Power (CSP)?

Concentrating solar power (also known as concentrated solar thermal (CST)) systems generate solar power by mirrors or lenses to concentrate a large area of sunlight, or solar thermal energy, onto a small area. Therefore, it generates electricity when the concentrated light gets converted to heat, which drives a heat engine (usually a steam turbine) connected to an electrical power.

In simpler words, the Concentrating Solar Thermal Power Systems (CSTs) concentrate the Solar Power to create steam to drive steam turbines and generate electricity. For Instance, we can use the generated steam for applications like heating water bodies and so on.

How can we help you?

Maximum Energy Generation

  • Tracking the Sun like a Sunflower allows us to gather and convert more sun to energy.
  • The high efficiency combined with tracking, means the system is always pointing at the Sun, gathering the most of the Sun’s rays and converting it to power.
  • On a good day, Quadsun can produce up to 70% more energy than other Solar Technologies.

Maximum Conversion Efficiency

  • The high reflectivity and precise parabolic mirrors combined with very efficient receivers maximize conversion of sunlight.
  • The hot water solution has a unique design that allows benchmark heat rate transfers from the receiver to the medium that needs to be heated.

Low Physical Footprint – Minimal Space

Quadsun systems need close to only half the space required to generate the same amount of energy as compared to other technologies.

A low footprint is the outcome of tracking the sun using high efficiency cells.
